How to Create Your Own Countdown Calendar

Updated February 21, 2017

If you have a big event or milestone --- such as a birthday, an anniversary or the prom --- approaching, you can create a customised "Countdown Calendar" using Microsoft Word, your printer and a stapler. Count the days remaining to the day of your big day before you begin.

Open Microsoft Word. Set your font to 100, and press the "centre" text icon. On each page type one numerical date, such as 30, 29, 28 and so on. Place your cursor before the number, and hit return to centre it on the page.

Print your pages.

Order your pages in order from the earliest date corresponding to the month of your big day to the latest date. For example, your pages could be in consecutive order from 1-15.

Line up all the pages so that the stack of paper is flush. Staple the stack once at the right corner and once at the left.

Tack the calendar on your notice board. Tear or snip off with scissors the page on the day corresponding to the current day.
