Windows Vista includes a high contrast mode for making display colours appear as negative or inverted. By inverting the colours on a Windows Vista display, you can heighten the colour contrast on the computer screen. This will make your computer screen easier to see, as the screen will not be as bright. High contrast mode is also recommended when using your computer in a dark area where you may disturb someone, such as a nearby sleeping passenger on a bus at night.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Turn on your Windows Vista computer.

  2. 2

Log in to your Windows Vista user account.

  3. 3

Hold down the "Left Alt," "Left Shift" and "Print Screen" keys on your keyboard at the same time. A window will appear asking if you want to turn on "High Contrast."

  4. 4

Click the "Yes" button in the prompt. Your screen will now appear with negative colours.

  5. 5

Hold down the "Left Alt," "Left Shift" and "Print Screen" buttons again to turn off the negative colours.
