Installing a Hook & Eye Door Lock

Both the hook and the eye screw in by hand; no screwdriver needed.

The best place to install the hook & eye is above the door knob, which allows you to easily unlock it. This also makes it almost in the centre of the height of the door, which is good to help secure the door.

First, install the hook apparatus. This is the larger of the two pieces which contain a hook attached to an eye. Hold the hook with the point downward against the door frame and hold it there. With the other hand, move the attached eye to the spot on the door that is directly level with the downward pointing hook and make a small mark on the door. This is where you will screw in the eye on the hook apparatus. Screw it in securely.

Hold the hook level to see where to place the eye that will be screwed into the door frame and make a mark. Screw the eye in, leaving it so that the eye is on a horizontal plane. The hook should now fit securely into the eye on the door frame, leaving your door locked securely.
