Though the Internet is a popular form of communication, using a phone can be the quickest and most effective. It is now possible to integrate phone numbers into web pages through HTML code. Through this process, a mobile phone user can click on the link and directly place a call to the number. Additionally, Skype offers a plugin to directly launch a call by clicking on a link. Both services allow for seamless direct calling from a website link.

  1. 1

Open the HTML code of the website in your code editor. If you don't have a code editor, Notepad will work fine.

  2. 2

Add the following line of HTML code to the body of the page: "<a href="tel.:X-XXX-XXX-XXXX">Link text</a>".

  3. 3

Replace X-XXX-XXX-XXXX with the 10-digit phone number preceded by the 1 digit country code.

  4. 4

Replace "Link text" with the text for the link such as "Call me."

  5. 5

Save the HTML code and upload it to your site via FTP client. Instructions vary based on which client you use, but you'll generally enter your username, password, and web address before dragging the file into the "public_html" directory in your folder structure. This varies depending on which type of hosting you have, how your file structure is arranged for your website and which FTP client you use.
