The online game World of Warcraft is set in the fictional world of Azeroth, a world with four major land masses, each divided into many smaller zones. Although players have a variety of transportation modes provided, long-distance travel in World of Warcraft can be time consuming. Because game masters -- known as GMs -- are responsible for efficiently assisting players and responding to problems across the entire game world, they have the ability to teleport directly to any location in the game by using map coordinates, player or object names.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Log in to World of Warcraft on a game master account.

  2. 2

Press "Enter" to open your in-game chat window.

  3. 3

Type ".go #x #y #z #mapid" in your chat window. Replace x, y and z with the corresponding x, y, and z coordinates of your destination and replace "mapid" with the correct zone map identity. Press "Enter" to teleport to the destination.

  4. 4

Type ".goname $player" in your chat window and press "Enter" to teleport to the location of a specific player. Substitute the player's name for "player" in the command.

  5. 5

Type ".goobject #object_guid" to teleport your character to a specific game object. Input the object's GUID (globally unique identifier) for the "guid" in the command and press "Enter." "World of Warcraft" GUIDs are hexadecimal strings with a "0x" prefix.

Tips and warnings

  • Only World of Warcraft GM accounts are authorised to use the GM commands.
