- USB printer connection cable
Remove the printer and supplied accessories from the packaging. Set the printer on a sturdy work surface, such as a printer cart or computer desk. Remove any packaging tape present on the exterior of the printer.
Lift up the printer's front cover and remove any protective inserts installed near the carriage area.
Close the printer's front cover. Connect the supplied power cord to the corresponding power port located on the rear side of the printer. Connect the remaining end of the power cable to a nearby wall outlet.
Hit the "Power" button, located on the top left portion of the printer. When the power button LED starts to flash, open the printer's front cover.
Insert the colour cartridge into the rightmost cartridge slot, located on the left front portion of the printer. Tilt the rear side of the cartridge upwards, until you hear an audible click. Insert the black ink cartridge into the leftmost cartridge slot.
Close the front printer cover and allow the printer to initialise. Turn off the printer once the power button LED stops flashing.
Turn off the printer before installing the supplied software. Turn on the computer and log in under an account with administrator privileges, if applicable.
Insert the software disc into the computer's CD/DVD drive. Click on the "Run Msetup4.exe" AutoPlay dialogue box option and allow the installation program to load.
Follow the installation screen instructions. Connect the USB cable from the printer to an available USB port on the computer, when prompted. Turn the printer on and follow the remaining set-up prompts.
Restart the printer after completing the software installation to complete the set-up process. Be sure to remove the installation disc from the computer before restarting the computer.
Connect the USB cable to the USB port located on the rear left side of the printer. Connect the remaining end of the USB cable to an available USB port on the computer.
Turn on the printer and computer. Allow the operating system to load and insert the installation disc. Open the "Setup" program, located within the "CANON_IJ" folder.
Provide the proper administrator credentials and click on the "OK" button.
Follow the installation prompts presented on the screen.
Restart the computer when prompted.
