How to Sync an MP3 Player in Ubuntu

Most MP3 players come with directions to sync the device with Windows and Macintosh computers. However, the Linux operating system Ubuntu can also sync the MP3 player with your Ubuntu music library. Use Ubuntu's default music player, Banshee, to synchronise your MP3 player with the music on your computer.

    Connect your MP3 player to your computer using the USB cable that came with the player.

    Open Banshee.

    Click on the name of your MP3 player in Banshee's left-hand menu. It may take a few minutes for Banshee to load all of the information on your player. The sync options for your device appear on Banshee's main screen.

    Use the drop-down menus to select what you want to sync to your MP3 player. You can choose to sync music, audiobooks, videos and podcasts.

    Click "Sync" when you have the options you want.
