The Creative Zen is a sleek MP3 player with a colour touch screen. It comes with software you can use to transfer music files to the device, but your computer will also recognise the player as a removable drive, giving you another way to transfer files. This will work with any computer, whether it's running Windows, the Mac OS or Linux. The built-in microSD card slot gives you yet another way to transfer songs to the Creative Zen player.

Instructions

    Use Creative Centrale

  1. 1

Connect the Creative Zen player to the computer using the USB cable that came with it.

  2. 2

    Run "Creative Centrale" software.

  3. 3

Use the Library on the left side to find the file(s) you want to transfer to your Creative Zen player. Drag the files to the "Transfer List," which is at the bottom of the left pane. When you are done adding files to the "Transfer List," click on the "Transfer List" in the left pane to display it in the centre panel and check that all of the files are listed.

  4. 4

Click on "Transfer" in the top menu bar. Wait while the files are transferred.

  5. 5

Close the "Creative Centrale" software. Disconnect the player from the computer after all of the files are transferred.

    Drag and Drop

  1. 1

Connect the Creative Zen player to the computer using the USB cable. Wait to see if the computer recognises the player and opens a window, or it may ask you what you want it to do. Choose the option to open the player as a folder to view files. If the player is not recognised, open the File Manager and open the player as a separate window.

  2. 2

Locate the folder containing the music you want to transfer, and open that folder as a second window.

  3. 3

Drag the music files from your computer's folder to the folder showing the contents of the Creative Zen device. Watch while the files are transferred. Once the transfer is complete, check the Creative Zen's folder to be sure all of the files are listed there.

  4. 4

Close both windows and disconnect the device from the computer.

    Use a MicroSD Card

  1. 1

Insert a microSD card into the adaptor that is shaped like an SD card, which came with the microSD card.

  2. 2

Insert the SD card adaptor into the computer's memory card reader.

  3. 3

Open a window showing the contents of the SD card, and open another window containing the music files you want to transfer to the Creative Zen player.

  4. 4

Drag the files from the computer's folder to the microSD card's folder. Wait while all the files transfer, then close both windows. Remove the SD card adaptor from the computer's card reader.

  5. 5

Remove the microSD card from the adaptor, and insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot on the top of the Creative Zen player. Touch the "Memory Card" icon on the main screen of the Creative Zen to access the contents of the microSD card.
