A bun high on the head can be messy or sleek, depending on the style you desire. Add a little colour to your bun by tying a scarf around it. After making a basic ponytail, secure the bun using only the fabric of the scarf for simple yet eye-catching pizazz. Make a bun with a scarf for a style that looks complicated but goes up easily.

Things you need
- Elastic band
- Long, narrow scarf
Brush your hair to detangle it and make it smooth. Either recently washed hair or hair washed the previous day work well for this style.
Pull your hair back into a ponytail, either at the crown of your head or at the nape of your neck. Secure the ponytail with the elastic band.
Insert one end of the scarf into the elastic band to fasten it securely to the ponytail. Pull the scarf halfway through so half the length hangs down from the elastic band.
Twist the ponytail until it coils into a circle. Continue twisting and coiling your hair until it forms a bun, tucking in the ends.
Hold the bun with one hand and bring the ends of the scarf around the coiled bun. Crisscross the scarf ends around the bun. Insert one end of the scarf through the underside of the bun behind the elastic band. Do the same with the other end of the scarf and pull the ends tight.
Bring the scarf ends back out to the topside of the bun again. Depending on how long the scarf is, you might be able to crisscross the ends again and insert back under the bun again. If the scarf is not long enough to cross again, simply tie or tuck the ends of the scarf to finish making the bun.
Spray your hair with hairspray to hold the style.
