How to Do Your Hair When Dressing Up as a Pirate

When doing your hair for a pirate costume, you should consider what kind of image you are trying to portray. The looks can range from a sexy pirate wench to the authentic Jack Sparrow pirate-look of unkempt hair. This can be easily accomplished by making mock dreadlocks. Since you will only be wearing these for a night, it is important not to rat the hair. This will also makes the dreadlock removal much easier. The look can be topped of by placing a do-rag or pirate hat around the hair.

  • Rat tail comb
  • Small hair rubber bands
  • Strong hold hairspray
  • Do-rag

Instructions

  1. 1

    Section off a piece of your hair, using the rat tail comb.

  2. 2

    Tie the piece of hair into a ponytail. Place the hair tie as close to the scalp as possible.

  3. 3

    Twist the strand of hair several times to create a dreadlock look. Spray the twisted strand of hair with strong hold hairspray.

  4. 4

    Place a small hair tie on the end of the hair strand and tie it off. Repeat this step, until all the desired hair has been placed into dreadlocks.

    Finish the look by placing a do-rag or pirate hat on.
