Use lengths of tulle to create an angel or a devil costume for Halloween. You'll make a tutu for both costumes, using white tulle for the angel and red tulle for the devil. Wear a leotard and tights with the tutus. The angel wears a pair of tulle-covered wings, while the devil wears a pair of sparkling horns.

Instructions

    Angel Costume

  1. 1

Cut the tulle into strips that measure twice the length you want the angel's tutu to be. Her tutu should be on the long side, hitting at least at her knees, if not the mid-calf.

  2. 2

Wrap the elastic around her waist and hold it so that it is snug, but not tight. Cut the elastic. Attach each side of the hook and loop closure to the ends of the elastic.

  3. 3

Fold each strip of tulle in half. Tie each strip to the elastic until it is completely covered in strips of tulle.

  4. 4

Untwist the wire hangers and shape each hanger into a wing shape or a close approximation such as a circle or oval.

  5. 5

Join the two wings by twisting the wires together in the middle of the wings.

  6. 6

Cut the tights in half down the crotch. Slide one tight leg over one wing, then slide the other leg over the other wing. Bring the extra legs lengths towards the centre of the wings.

  7. 7

Decorate the wings by gluing feathers and strips of tulle to them.

  8. 8

Have the costume-wearer put on the white leotard and tights, then wrap the tutu around her waist. Tie the wings to her upper body by wrapping the extra tights legs around her midsection.

    Devil Costume

  1. 1

Cut enough 24-inch lengths of red tulle to cover the elastic band.

  2. 2

Wrap the elastic around the wearer's waist, snug, but not tight, and cut the elastic. Attach the hook and loop closures to the ends of the elastic.

  3. 3

Fold the strips of tulle in half and tie each strip to the elastic until it is completely covered in tulle.

  4. 4

Wrap the tutu around the person's waist and trim the strips of tulle if needed to make the tutu very short -- no longer than mid-thigh.

  5. 5

Shape two pieces of clay into two 3-inch long horn shapes. Let the clay completely dry overnight.

  6. 6

Paint the horns red, unless you used red clay. Once the paint is dry, coat the horns in a thin layer of glue, then coat in glitter. Let them dry.

  7. 7

Slide the headband onto the person's head and position the horns on the headband until they look even. Mark where the horns will go, then take the headband off and hot-glue in place.

  8. 8

Put the leotard and tights on the wearer, then wrap the tutu around her waist and put the horn headband on her head.
