The OneKey Recovery System included with the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 laptop restores your hard disk to factory settings, creates system backups and restores data after a hardware failure. Back up any important files because a factory reset permanently deletes all the data stored on your hard drive, returning the computer to the exact state it was in at purchase. Deleting the contents of your hard drive prepares the computer for sale or long-term storage.

Instructions

  1. 1

Shut down your IdeaPad Y530 as normal, clicking "Start" in the bottom left corner of the screen then "Turn Off Computer." A screen appears with various shutdown options; click "Turn Off." The computer powers down.

  2. 2

Press the square button above the power switch marked with an arched arrow. The computer turns on in "OneKey Recovery System" mode.

  3. 3

Select "Restore to Factory Default" using the arrow buttons and hit "Enter." The computer erases all the information on the C: drive, replacing it with factory default data stored in a hidden disk partition. The process takes longer if you have a large amount of data on your hard disk.
