The Hewlett Packard 1310 All-in-One printer uses disposable print heads that are part of the ink cartridges. Since you replace the printer head each time you replace the cartridge, maintenance needs a minimal. However, occasionally you might notice that there is some smearing or blurriness in your documents or photos. If you observe this your first step should be to remove the printer cartridge and clean the contacts.

Turn the printer on and make sure the paper tray is in the down position. This allows you to access the printer cartridge door.

  2. 2

Pull the handle on the access door toward you and allow it to rotate down. This will cause the carriage to move to the centre position so you can access the cartridges.

Press down on the front edge of the cartridge to pop it out of its slot in the carriage. Pull the cartridge toward you to remove it from the printer.

Dampen a lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water. Make sure the cloth is merely damp and not dripping.

  5. 5

Use the cloth to clean any excess ink off the printer contacts. Wipe any debris or ink from the cartridge slot in the carriage. Allow everything to dry.

Angle the cartridge so the rear is higher than the front and insert the rear edge of the cartridge into the slot. Lift the front bottom edge to snap the cartridge into place.

Repeat the cleaning procedure with the second cartridge.

  8. 8

Press the "Scan" button on the control panel to align the print cartridges, which will take about 30 seconds.
