It is possible to make your own skin cream using glycerine, which can alleviate dry skin symptoms. Glycerine is a humectant, which means that when applied it attracts moisture to the top layers of the skin. By mixing glycerine, coconut oil, baby oil, and beeswax together in a double boiler, you can create an effective skin moisturising product that can be applied to non-sensitive skin as often as needed.
Add 1/4 cup of beeswax and coconut oil to the double boiler, and allow them to melt over medium heat. Stir the contents of the double boiler until they are completely liquefied. Coconut oil is also known to promote skin hydration and relieve redness that can sometimes be a symptom of dry skin.
Add 1/3 cup glycerine and 3 tablespoons of baby oil to the ingredients in the double boiler. Continue to stir until an even consistency is achieved throughout the mixture. The entire melting and mixing process should take about 5 minutes.
Empty the contents of the double boiler into a small plastic container. The mixture will start to thicken as it loses its heat. This process will produce about 1 cup of glycerine skin cream.
Use the glycerine skin cream as you would other skin care creams. Repeat application as often as it takes to alleviate dry skin symptoms.
People with sensitive skin or eczema are advised not to use glycerine-based skin care products. Use may result in allergic reactions.
