A memory stick is Sony's proprietary memory card format. (NA/ Images)

Memory sticks are somewhat large memory cards that fit into many Sony brand consumer electronics. Some personal computers contain ports that allow you to insert memory sticks and read the data from them. One such computer is the Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop computer. This modern laptop has all the horsepower you need to edit the photos you took with your Sony-brand camera.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Locate the 5-in1 card reader on the left-hand side of the Dell Inspiron E1405. The card reader is toward the front of the laptop right next to the headphones jack.

  2. 2

Remove the memory card blank from the card reader. This plastic insert is used to protect the card reader from dust and debris.

  3. 3

Hold the Memory Stick face up and slide it into the slot until it is completely within the computer. This can be done while the computer is running. The card is automatically detected when inserted with the power on.
