The contactless card reader on your Dell Latitude E6500 is an expansion card slot on the unit. You can insert a data storage card, known as a "smart" card, into this slot, which frees up the USB ports on the computer. Once you have the card in the computer, store your important data on it. The card can then be used in any other device with a contactless card reader.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Turn on your Dell Latitude E6500. Locate the thin card-reader slot on the right side.

  2. 2

Insert your data card into the slot, making sure the label of the card is facing up.

  3. 3

Press the card into the slot until it locks in place.

  4. 4

Open the "My Computer" icon on your Dell desktop. The data card icon is now listed in the window as an external drive.

  5. 5

Use your mouse to click on any data you would like to move to the card. Drag and drop the data from your computer's desktop to the data card's desktop icon.
