How to Make a Pie Costume

Updated November 21, 2016

For some people, Halloween costumes have to be scary, while others prefer to look sexy. But the reality is that you can dress up as just about anything on Halloween, including a slice of pie. It might seem like dressing up as a slice of pie could be difficult, but it is actually fairly simple, once you have the right materials. This is a costume that can work for a child or an adult, so consider making it for the pie-lover in your life.

Take a cardboard box that is about as long as your body. You will create both sides of the slice of pie with this box and drape it over your body like a sandwich board.

Measure your body from shoulder to shoulder and from shoulder to about the knees.

Draw a triangle onto the cardboard that is the width of the space between your shoulders and as long as the space between your shoulders and your knees.

Cut out two sheets of cardboard that are the same size.

Paint one of the cardboard pieces brown so that it looks like the bottom of a piece of pie. Paint the other triangular cardboard piece with a brown checkerboard pattern. Add purple paint between the checkerboard squares so that it looks like a slice of blueberry pie.

Cut fabric into straps and hot glue them to either side of the pie slice so that you can drape it over your body like a sandwich board.

Put on a purple shirt and pair of leggings to wear under the costume.

Put on the pie sandwich board. Blow up the purple balloons so that they look like blueberries. Glue the balloons between the two pieces of cardboard so that they look like blueberries coming out of the sides of the pie.

Put on the purple knit cap so that it looks like another blueberry.
