Zumba is a dance-fitness program that has grown in popularity over the past decade. The program incorporates a variety of Latin and popular dance styles, including salsa, meringue, reggaetton, the cha cha, bellydancing and swing dancing. You can learn Zumba moves by attending a class, practicing with an instruction video, or learning the moves on your own. There are several Zumba moves that are used frequently in the fitness program. Start with your feet together. Move your left foot forward and step on beat one. Bend your knees and shift your weight forward when you step.
Transfer weight to your right foot on the second beat. Move your left foot back together with your right foot on the third beat so that you are in the starting position. Pause on the fourth beat.
Transfer weight to your left foot. Step back with your right foot on beat one, shifting your weight back.
Transfer weight back onto your left foot on beat two. Bring your right foot back to the starting position on beat three. Pause on beat four.
Practice leading with the right foot stepping forward first. Try doing the salsa move from front to back and then side to side.
Start with both of your feet together. Step to your right with your right foot on beat one. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart.
Step your left foot behind your right foot on beat two. Step your right foot to your right on beat three.
Bring your left foot together with your right foot on beat four. Clap your hands as you bring your feet together.
Repeat the grapevine step in the opposite direction. Step to your left with your left foot on beat one.
Step your right foot behind your left foot on beat two. Step your left foot to the left on beat three.
Step your right foot together with your left foot on beat four, returning to starting position. Clap your hands on beat four.
Practice counting out the beats of the cha cha, "one, two, three and four" (do beats "three and four" as a triple step.) Rock back on your right foot, stepping your foot behind you to cross your left foot on beat one.
Transfer your weight to your left foot on beat two.
Make three quick steps (a triple step) on beats "three and four." Step your right foot next to your left foot on beat three. Step your left foot on "and." Step your right foot again on beat four.
Repeat the cha cha step going the opposite direction. Step your left foot back on beat one to cross your right foot. Transfer weight onto your right foot on beat two.
Do a triple step as you count beats "three and four." Step your left foot next to your right foot on beat three. Step your right foot on beat "and." Step on your left foot on beat four.
