"Pokemon Crystal" was released for the Game Boy Color in 2001. The sequel to "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue," Crystal introduced 150 new Pokemon to the original 150. Many of the original Pokemon, such as Kadabra, evolved the same way as they did in Red and Blue. To evolve Kadabra into Alakazam, you must trade him.

  1. 1

Connect both Game Boy Colors using the Nintendo Link Cable accessory.

  2. 2

Travel to any Pokemon Center. Another player must do the same.

  3. 3

Enter the Pokemon Center and speak to the woman upstairs. The other player must do this, too.

  4. 4

Begin trading. The other player must also talk to her and trade.

  5. 5

Select "Kadabra" from your list of Pokemon. The other player may select any Pokemon.

  6. 6

Select "Trade." Once the trade is complete, Kadabra will automatically evolve into Alakazam. Have the other player trade the Alakazam back to you for the original Pokemon he traded you.

Tips and warnings

  • Trading is the only way to get an Alakazam. You may trade between "Pokemon Red," "Blue," "Gold," "Silver" or another copy of "Crystal" when trading Kadabra.
