How to Take off Predictive Text on an iPhone
The iPhone doesn't always predict the right corrections as you type. (Kiyoshi Ota/Getty Images News/Getty Images)

The iPhone keyboard is quite small, and even users with petite fingers may introduce typos when using the iPhone's onscreen keyboard. The iPhone offers an auto correction feature that is turned on by default that predicts what you actually meant when you misspelled something. The iPhone, however, does not always predict your intentions accurately. If the auto correction feature is wrong more than it's right, you can turn the functionality off.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Tap the grey "Settings" app on your iPhone's home screen.

  2. 2

Tap "General" and then tap "Keyboard."

  3. 3

Tap the "ON" icon to the right of "Auto-Correction" until it reads "OFF." Your phone will no longer suggest text when you use your onscreen keyboard. Turn the function back on by navigating back to the "Keyboard" screen within the Settings app and tapping the "ON/OFF" toggle to the right of Auto-Correction until it reads "ON."
