You're not stuck with the ringtones that come with the iPhone 4. You can easily customise your iPhone's ringtones to express your interests or personality. You can change the ringtones on your phone through the settings on your iPhone, ringtone websites or ringtone apps.

    Buy New Ringtones through iTunes

    Go to "Settings," "Sounds," "Ringtone" and "Buy More Tones." This will take you to iTunes, where you can buy new ringtones for your iPhone. They cost 80p each as of the time of publication. If you buy them on your phone, you can select them through "Settings," "Sounds" and "Ringtone." You can also go to iTunes on your computer and buy the ringtones, and then when you sync your iPhone, the ringtones will be added to your phone.

    Websites such as Myxer.com offer ringtones, many of them for free. Choose the ringtone, customise the section of it that you want, and then choose "iPhone download." You can send to a friend's phone or your own phone.

    Apps such as Ringtone Maker or Ringtone Designer let you record any sound and make it a ringtone or take songs from your iPod and make them into ringtones. You can add fade in and fade out. You need to use M4A or MP3 audio files.
