  1. 1

Dress yourself entirely in blue. Put on a blue bodysuit, if you can find one. Otherwise, for girls, a long-sleeved blue dress with blue tights will work perfectly. For boys, a long sleeved blue shirt with blue jeans or slacks is a great alternative. If you can find blue shoes to wear, put them on.

  2. 2

Apply blue face paint to your face and hands. Their blue colouration is one of the hallmarks of the Avatar costume, so it is imperative that you cover your entire face, as well as your hands, with blue face paint. Use white face paint on top of the blue to paint stripes on your face. Face paint can be found during the Halloween season at most drugstores and grocery stores, and the rest of the year at party supply stores.

  3. 3

Braid your hair. If you have short hair, put on a long black wig or a braided wig. Decorate your braids with beads and feathers.

  4. 4

Make Avatar ears. The Avatars from the movie have pointed ears. To accomplish this look, you can make pointy tips to attach to your ears out of cardboard. Paint a small piece of cardboard with blue paint and allow it to dry. Hold it up to your ears and trace the top of your ear onto the cardboard with a pencil. Repeat with your other ear. Use the pencil to draw a triangular shape from the traced ear edges, so that the ear comes to a point. Repeat. Cut the pointed ears out and tape them onto the tops of your real ears.
