OpenOffice is a free, open-source office software package that includes Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw and Base. OpenOffice Writer is a word processing program similar to Microsoft Office Word. Its features include autocomplete suggestions, HTML export and the ability to read Microsoft Word documents. To remove blank lines in OpenOffice Writer, you will need to display the nonprinting characters so that you can see the extra spaces. This will show up as a "¶" symbol. Then, delete the extra spaces and delete the extra lines.
