How to Remove "Same As Previous" in Footers in Word 2007

Updated June 13, 2017

The "Same as Previous" function connects the footer to previous sections, keeping the same format and page numbering even though the section has changed. Once you remove the footer's "Same as Previous" status, you can change the way the footer appears on all the pages in that section. Separate section footers can have different formats, page number settings, positions and content elements.

Click the "Insert" tab.

Click the "Footer" icon. On the bottom of the drop-down menu, click "Edit Footer."

Click "Link to Previous" on the Ribbon, in the group marked Navigation.

Tip

When the "Link to Previous" feature is turned on, the button is orange; when you turn it off, then the button will return to the same colour as the rest of the Ribbon.
