Linking to your blog posts on social media sites like Twitter is an effective way to get more traffic to your blog, especially if you have a lot of followers. If you host your blog on Tumblr, it's easy to link your posts to your Twitter account. After syncing your accounts, Tumblr will send out tweets on your behalf, with customised short URLs for your followers to click on that will lead them directly to your posts.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Click "Customize" in the right-hand column of the Tumblr dashboard.

  2. 2

    Click "Services."

  3. 3

Click "Sign in with Twitter," then "Allow," to grant Tumblr access to your Twitter account.

  4. 4

Check "Send my Tumblr posts to Twitter." Now, when you post something to Tumblr, a link to the post will be tweeted automatically.

Tips and warnings

  • The "Send to Twitter" option will be checked by default on each individual post; to not tweet out certain posts, just uncheck it before publishing.
