"Grand Theft Auto IV," like all of its predecessors, allows users to steal money from pedestrians by attacking them and killing them. Though completing missions is the main way of making money, attacking pedestrians provides a steady flow of cash. Though you do not make much money for each pedestrian, you can steal from dozens of pedestrians at one time in order to grab the most amount of money.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Click on the weapons button to toggle through the weapons until you reach bare hands. On the Xbox 360, you must press and hold the X button. On the PS3, you must press the right arrow on the D-pad.

  2. 2

Look around your surrounds by moving the camera with the right stick. Make sure there are no nearby police officers.

  3. 3

Walk up to a pedestrian and attack him by pressing the square button on the PS3 or the X button on the Xbox 360.

  4. 4

Continue pressing the attack button until the character drops money. Run through the icon of money to collect it.

  5. 5

Look to the top-right corner of the screen to check your wanted level. If you have gained a star, do not continue attacking people until your star disappears. The star will disappear on its own but if a police officer touches you while you have a star, you will be "Busted" and go to the police station. If you do not have a star, continue stealing from people until you have got enough money.

Tips and warnings

  • Steal from people after they leave the ATM for extra cash.
