How to Turn off Bing Search in Internet Explorer 8

Internet Explorer 8 comes with a "Search Providers" search bar installed at the top of the browser. Bing is one of the search providers available on the browser. This gives you the ability to use Bing Web search without having to navigate to the website, saving you time. Turning Bing Search off in the Web browser lets you use a different search provider that is installed. You have the option of simply turning Bing Search off or completely uninstalling it from Internet Explorer 8.

    Open Internet Explorer 8.

    Click the arrow located on the far-right portion of Bing Search. A menu appears.

    Select "Manage Search Providers." A window appears.

    Right-click the "Bing" icon in the centre of the window. A menu appears.

    Click "Disable Suggestions" inside the menu. Bing Search is turned off. Proceed to the next step to remove Bing Search or stop here if you are keeping it installed.

    Right-click the "Bing" icon once more. Choose "Remove." Bing Search is removed.

    Click "Close" in the bottom of the "Manage Search Providers" window to close the window.
