How to Reset the BIOS on a Latitude E4300

Updated February 21, 2017

Dell's Latitude E4300 laptop is primarily designed for business customers. The E4300 has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz processor, 4 MB of system memory and a 13.3-inch display. The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), which is on every computer, is special firmware that allows you to tweak hardware and system settings. If your E4300 isn't running properly and you need to reset BIOS to remedy it, enter the BIOS menu and load factory defaults.

Click the "Start" button (the Windows-logo button in the lower-left-hand corner of the screen). Select "Restart" to reboot the laptop.

Wait for the Dell logo to appear on the laptop screen. Press the key "F2" twice when the logo appears, to enter the BIOS menu.

Use the arrow key on the keyboard to highlight the BIOS menu option "Exit." Press "Enter."

Use the up- and down-arrow keys to select "Load Setup Defaults." Press "Enter." The BIOS is reset to default settings.

Press the "F10" key to save the default changes and exit BIOS.
