The Citizen Eco Quartz Skyhawk is based on the U600 eco-quartz movement. It does not need a battery, as it takes energy from available light sources. In addition, the watch receives radio signals which automatically set the time and update it as necessary.
However, there are situations in which you do need to set the time manually. These include developing countries and remote areas where the necessary radio transmissions are not available or not strong enough.
Manually setting the time on a Citizen Eco Quartz Skyhawk manually actually entails setting the electronic movement as opposed to the actual watch hands.
Pull the crown out one click, and rotate it in either direction so that the mode hand indicates "TIME".
Press and release either the upper or lower right hand selector button until a city corresponding to your time zone appears in the uppermost right hand digital display.
Pull the crown out one more click. This will activate the time setting mode and reset the watch hands to 12.00. The letters "SMT" will flash in the uppermost right hand digital display. These letters indicate daylight savings time.
Press and release the lower right button to choose between activating and deactivating daylight savings time.
Press and release the upper right button. This activates the seconds, which should be set to zero by pressing and releasing the lower right button.
Set the minutes by first pressing and releasing the upper right button. Then, turn the crown in either direction until the correct time appears in the right hand digital display under the city code you have chosen in step 2.
Repeat the process above to set the hours. Once again, check the correct hours in the right hand digital display.
Press and release the upper right button once again to select 12 or 24 hour mode. The mode indicator will flash in the right hand display. Press and release the lower right button to select the mode you desire.
Push the crown in one click. At the same time, press and release both right hand buttons until you hear a beep. The time zone in the left hand display will then match the one you have chosen in the right hand display, and the analogue hands will position themselves for the time as you have set it.
Push the crown in one more click to the closed position, where it is closest to the case. The setting process is now complete.
