Vimeo is a video-sharing website that caters to creative professionals and showcases a level of work not normally seen on other video-sharing sites like YouTube. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a security communication protocol issued to websites to make them more secure. When embedding a Vimeo video on a website with SSL, the video itself must also be secure for security reasons and thus must use Vimeo's SSL certification to be embedded.
