OpenX is an advertising service founding in 1998. It provides websites with clickable advertisements tailored toward the site's users. Websites that use the OpenX plug-in gain a share of the revenues generated by OpenX ads. For some websites, the OpenX ad service is profitable, but others find the banner ads annoying, unprofitable, or cumbersome. If you want to turn off OpenX ads, you need to disable the installed plug-in.
