Adjusting the brightness and contrast of the laptop monitor will improve the text readability and make images appear more crisp and clear. Microsoft Windows 7 provides controls through the "Control Panel's Display Options" to manage the brightness and contrast of your laptop monitor. In addition, Windows 7 provides several extra display options to optimise the screen viewing experience.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Control Panel."

  2. 2

Click the "Appearance and Personalization" option in the Control Panel.

  3. 3

Click "Display" on the "Appearance and Personalization" page.

  4. 4

Click "Calibrate Color" in the left navigation pane. The Calibration window will open. Click "Next" twice.

  5. 5

Review the "How to Adjust Gamma" page and click "Next." The following page will be the "Brightness and Contrast Adjustment" page. Click "Next."
