The iDog is a robot dog toy made by Sega and marketed by Hasbro. It is designed to react to an external music source such as an MP3 player and light up and dance to the beat. Marketed to people ages 8 and up, the iDog is simple to use.
- Skill level:
Turn the iDog on. Press the button on the nose of the iDog. The iDog will play a sound and LED light animation to show that it is switched on. Press and hold the iDog's nose for five seconds to turn it off.
Pet the iDog. Wave your hand over the top of the iDog's head and the iDog will display a LED animation. If the middle light on the iDog's head is flashing pink/purple then it is an indication that the iDog wants you to pet it. Press the nose button and you will hear a reaction from the toy.
Hook up the iDog to a music player. Plug end "A" of the supplied cord into the iDog's jack port on the side. Plug end "B" into the headphone jack of the music player. Plug a set of headphones into the headphone jack on end "C" of the cord to listen to your music.
Feed the iDog by playing music for it. When the middle light on the iDog's head flashes blue, the iDog is wants you to play music. Play music from another device and the iDog's ears will perk up to show you that it's listening and then its head and ears will periodically dance to the music. This can be done by connecting the iDog to a device or have it "listen" to music through the built-in microphone.
Give the iDog a mood. The iDog reacts to what kind of music you play it. If you play it rock and punk, the ring of LEDs on the head will flash red. If you play dance or techno, they will flash green and if you play hip hop or rap, it will flash yellow.
