How to Make Desktop Icons Bigger on Windows 7

Updated June 19, 2018

Windows 7 includes options for changing the size, location and alignment of your desktop icons. It uses the medium setting by default but also includes a smaller and larger setting. The desktop can display fewer icons as the icon size increases, so it supports the largest number of icons at the smallest size available. You can make your desktop icons bigger in a few simple steps.

Right-click any open area on the Windows desktop.

Click "View" to see a list of options for icon size and placement.

Select "Large Icons" to use the largest size for your icons. Select "Medium Icons" to increase your icons to the default icon size if you had previously changed to the smallest size.
