When a kitchen is built into a home, generally spaces are left between the countertops for the appliances. While these spaces may fit some appliances, such as refrigerators or stoves, perfectly, the space may be too large for the appliance of your choice, leaving gaps on either side. This can be an issue around stoves, where food may fall between the side of the appliance and the counter. You can fill in the gap with a T-shaped cover made for this purpose.

Instructions

  1. 1

Measure the distance along the gap. Place the end of the tape measure at the back of the stove and countertop and measure out to the front of the stove and countertop.

  2. 2

Measure the width of the part of the stove that extends above the rest where the controls are located from back to front. Place the first T-shaped cover in front of you so that one end faces you. Trim the top part of the cover back the same distance as the width of the stove's control panel on the right side of the "T" piece of the cover.

  3. 3

Place the second T-shaped cover in front of you so that one end faces you. Trim the top part of the cover back the same amount as the first cover, but this time on the left side of the "T".

  4. 4

Slide the T-shaped cover from which you trimmed away the right side of cover onto the right side of the stove, so that the lower part of the "T" sits between the stove and counter and the upper parts of the "T" lie on the stove and countertop. Push the cover back until the cut piece slides into the space between the stove's control panel and the counter.

  5. 5

Put the second T-shaped cover in place on the left side of the stove. Slide the cover into place with the lower part of the "T" between the stove and counter and push back until the cut portion of the cover slides between the upper control panel and the counter.
