By default, all of your Facebook friends are collected in a single list. You can sort this list alphabetically, or by various other criteria, but you can also create custom lists within the main list of friends, to which you can add whichever friends you want. If you want to organise Facebook friends in this way, you can do so through the Edit Friends screen.

Go to the Facebook website and log in with your e-mail and password.
Click "Friends" in Facebook's left column, then the "Edit Friends" button.
Click "Create a List." This will bring up the Create New List dialogue.
Enter a name for the list, then select the friends you want to include. You can scroll through your entire list of friends, or you can enter a name in the "Start typing a name" box to jump quickly to a specific friend. When you're done, click "Create List."
Modify your list by clicking on it in the left panel, then clicking "Add Multiple." This will bring up a dialogue much like the one you used to create the list. When you're done adding friends, click "Save List."
