FedEx Corporation is one of the biggest shipping companies in the world. The following specialised companies operate under the FedEx name: FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Office, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade Networks, FedEx SupplyChain and FedEx Services. FedEx operates in more than 220 countries and delivers to every address within the U.S. When you create a shipment with FedEx, you get a tracking number. With this number, both the receiver and the shipper can track the shipment's progress. You can find this number on the FedEx receipt by contacting the sender or calling FedEx Customer Service with the shipping info.
Locate your FedEx shipping receipt, if you are the sender or if the sender has supplied you with a copy. You can see the FedEx tracking number displayed clearly on the receipt.
Contact the sender and request the FedEx tracking number. The sender can find the number on their FedEx receipt. Ask the sender to e-mail you a copy of the shipping receipt.
Call FedEx Customer Service at 1-800-GoFedEx or 1-800-463-3339. Give the customer service representative as much information as possible about the shipment. Tell them the shipper's and recipient's details, origin and destination of the shipment, the shipping date and if possible, the service used. They will locate the tracking number.
Check if you or the sender has received e-mail notifications from FedEx. The sender can choose to send e-mail notifications for up to four people. The types of notifications are ship, exception and delivery. All of these notification e-mails will have the tracking number for the shipment.
Go to FedEx.com. Log into your account with your FedEx ID and password. Select from the "I want to" menu "View All My Shipments." Click "Log In." Select the shipment which tracking number you need to find. You will see all the details for the shipment. You can do this only if you have a FedEx account.
Track the shipment online on FedEx.com with the shipping reference, which the sender has assigned to the shipment. If you don't have a FedEx account, you have to supply the following additional information: Shipping date (within 15 days), destination country and destination postcode. You might need to enter the FedEx service used. When you see the shipment details, note down the tracking number. You can also track shipments online with a Door Tag Number and a FedEx Office Order Number.
Availability for tracking information is 90 days from the delivery for FedEx Express, FedEx Express Freight, FedEx Ground, FedEx SmartPost and FedEx Custom Critical shipments. Shipment information for FedEx Freight is kept for two years from the delivery date.
