Skype is a program that allows users to communicate through instant messaging, video messaging and voice calling. As of March 2011, Skype accounts are free to set up, and anyone with an e-mail address can have one. When you want to talk to people on Skype, you add them as a contact and input their data -- specifically, their Skype username and any phone numbers you want to be able to reach them at. If your contact list gets too large, you may want to remove some duplicate contacts from Skype.
