Many people lace their sneakers and running shoes, such as the Nike Air Max, in the usual criss-crossing lace pattern everyone learns when they are young. However, there are many different ways to lace a pair of shoes; some people choose a different pattern just to be different or for a stylish change. Straight lacing your Nike Air Max shoes is an easy alternative to lacing them in the traditional way.

Place the shoelace through the tops of the bottom two eyelets of the Nike Air Max. Pull the lace so that it is a third longer on the right side of the shoe. This side of the lace will be laced through most of the eyelets. Pull the lace on the right eyelet through the bottom of the eyelet directly above it.

Repeat the lacing pattern in Step 2 until the shoe is laced through all six eyelets. The lace should pass through the top right eyelet. Take remaining slack of the lace on the bottom left eyelet and pass it underneath the lacing of the Nike Air Max on the left side and out through the bottom of the eyelet on the left side of the shoe.

Tie your shoes together in a knot, or leave the laces loose on each side.
