How to Measure Bangle Bracelets

Bangle bracelets that are too large are uncomfortable to wear; they feel as though they're going to fall off and can make you hold your hand in a unnatural, splay-fingered position. Too-small bangles are difficult to get on and off and you risk damaging either yourself or the bangle in order to wear it. By measuring your hand you can quickly determine if a bangle will fit properly, and make ordering bangles online an easy process you can do with confidence.

Things you need

    Adjustable Bangle

  1. 1

Wrap a narrow strip of paper around your wrist so that it fits comfortably, allowing a little movement but not so much that it slips over your hand and restricts movement.

  2. 2

Overlap the paper around your wrist and mark the join.

  3. 3

Lay down the paper so that it is flat and measure the length from the end to the mark you made. This is your wrist measurement and gives you the circumference you need to have for your bangle.

    Fixed Size Bangle

  1. 1

Squash your fingers together making your hand as narrow as possible as though you are about to slip on a bangle bracelet.

  2. 2

Wrap a strip of paper around the widest part of your squeezed-together hand, which will be around the thumb and knuckles.

  3. 3

Slip the paper back and forth to make sure it will move across your knuckles and down to your wrist easily.

  4. 4

Mark the place of the overlap on the paper.

  5. 5

Lay down the paper so that it is flat and measure the length from the end of the paper to the mark. This gives the circumference you need for your fixed size bracelet bangle.

    Convert from Circumference to Diameter

  1. 1

Cut your strip of paper at the point where you marked the measurement. Tape the ends together to form a made-to-measure paper bangle.

  2. 2

Lay down the paper bangle on a flat surface, taking care not to distort the circle.

  3. 3

Measure directly across the bracelet from one side to the other at its widest point.
