Tradition dictates that you wish your friends happy birthday every year. Receiving these birthday wishes make your friends feel special and that people care about them. Regardless of how close you are to a friend, you should wish him a happy birthday. Throw your friend a surprise birthday party. Invite her friends and family to the event. Either bake a cake to accommodate the party attendees, or purchase a cake from a local store. Create a guest list for the event by contacting mutual friends and your friend's relatives to invite them to the party. Have the party at your house, at a local restaurant or another venue that you know your friend would enjoy. For example, if you friend likes to bowl, reserve lanes in a local bowling alley and have friends and the cake present at the alley before your friend arrives.
Mail your friend a birthday card and gift. This is an effective tactic if you live far away from your friend. Besides calling her, birthday cards allow you to convey your feelings for your friend. Include a heartfelt message in the card. Before writing the message in the card, practice writing it on your computer or on a blank sheet of paper. Focus on your wording, grammar and writing style. Include a gift you know your friend would appreciate, such as a photo of the two of you, a new electronic gadget or a book your friend has been talking about reading.
Call your friend phone to wish him a happy birthday. Phone calls add a personal touch more than other ways of communicating with your friend.
Wish your friend a happy birthday over the Internet. You likely know your friend's e-mail address, Facebook, Myspace or Twitter accounts. Although many people will wish your friend a happy birthday through these mediums, your friend will expect you, at a minimum, to do the same.
Call your friend's favourite radio station and tell them that it's your friend's birthday. Tell your friend to tune in at the time the station plans to air the message.
