How to Use Coca-Cola as a Grease Stain Remover

Updated July 20, 2017

Grease stains are notoriously stubborn to remove. One can of Coke, however, can help to dissolve the grease from your clothing. Coca-Cola contains small amounts of phosphoric acid. When applied to a grease stain, the acid will loosen grease from clothing fabric. Once the grease has begun to dissolve, your washing powder will remove the stain from your clothes.

Pour a small amount of Coca-Cola on the grease-stained fabric, and rub the fabric together, using your hands to work the cola into the stain. Pour another small amount on the stain, and allow it to soak for 10 to 15 minutes.

Place the stained clothing item in your washing machine. Empty the remaining Coca-Cola into the washing machine.

Add an appropriate amount of detergent to the washing machine. Run the machine through a regular cycle.
