How to Charge My Phone Battery Without a Cable

Updated April 17, 2017

As ubiquitous as the cell phone itself, a charger is used to replenish battery life in a phone. In the past, a cell phone charger came in the form of a wired accessory that connected to the cell phone and a power outlet. New technological innovations have changed the way in which cell phones can recharge. Now, cell phones can utilise wireless charging pads or mats instead of wired chargers.

Purchase a wireless charging pad or mat. The cable-free pad or mat is capable of charging multiple devices at the same time, including cell phones. See Resources for links to several different charging pads or mats.

Open and remove the contents of the charging pad or mat from its box or container. Place the mat or pad in a flat location that is near a wall outlet. Connect the pronged end of the supplied AC adaptor into the wall outlet. Connect the other end of the AC adaptor directly into the pad or mad. See your specific device's manual for additional instructions.

Press the power button located on the charging mat or pad. Wait a few seconds for an indicator light to turn on, which signals that the device is ready to begin charging the cell phone. Place the cell phone directly on the mat or pad with its LCD screen face up. Allow up to a few hours for your cell phone to fully charge.
