How to Convert an ALX or COD to a JAR

A JAR file (Java Archive) packs multiple Java programming language files into one file. Programmers use JAR files to distribute Java applications or Java library files with the related resources, such as text, images and file descriptions. The COD files are used in the BlackBerry mobile devices to store Java programs code and are compatible with a JAR file format. The ALX files contain the application description and COD files location. The javaloader utility supplied with the Blackberry device must be used in order to convert ALX or COD files to a JAR file.

    Click the "Start" button in Windows and select the "Run" option.

    Type in "cmd " and click the "OK" button to open command line window.

  3. 3

    Type in "cd [path]" at the ">" command line prompt, where [path} is the the location of the ALX or COD file you want to convert to JAR file format.

    Press the "Enter" key to set up the current directory.

  5. 5

    Type in "rapc import="c:\Program Files\RIM\Blackberry JDE 3.\lib\net_rim_api.jar" codename=<[FILENAME]> -midlet jad=<[FILENAME]>.jad <[FILENAME]>.jar" at the command prompt.

    Press the "Enter" key to convert the ALX or COD file to a JAR file.
