A JAR file (Java Archive) packs multiple Java programming language files into one file. Programmers use JAR files to distribute Java applications or Java library files with the related resources, such as text, images and file descriptions. The COD files are used in the BlackBerry mobile devices to store Java programs code and are compatible with a JAR file format. The ALX files contain the application description and COD files location. The javaloader utility supplied with the Blackberry device must be used in order to convert ALX or COD files to a JAR file.
