The HP 3525 Color LaserJet printer can print in colour or black and white. If you rarely print in colour, you can change the printer's colour setting to "grayscale" printing, which will allow your colour toner cartridges to last longer. When you print a document from any program, you can select the grayscale option in the printing preferences, but this selection will not change the default setting. To change the default settings, you need to make the selection directly from Windows.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Click the Start orb and choose "Devices and Printers."

  2. 2

Right click your HP LaserJet 3525 printer under the section heading "Printers and Faxes."

  3. 3

Click "Set as default device" to set your HP 3525 as the default printer for Windows.

  4. 4

Right-click your HP 3525 printer again and choose "Printing preferences."

  5. 5

Click the "Main" tab and check the box next to "Grayscale Printer."

  6. 6

Click "Apply" to accept the new settings, then "OK" to close the window. Your HP printer now prints in black and white by default.
