How to Save SMS Messages to a SIM Card on My Motorola K1

Updated July 18, 2017

The SIM cards used in GSM phones to associate a phone with a wireless account also have a small amount of memory available to store phone book contacts, text messages, and other data. This can be a convenient way to save important messages when the phone's memory is close to capacity or when moving from one phone to another. The Motorola KRZR K1 allows users to set the SIM card as the default storage option for all incoming text messages.

Open your K1's main menu and select "Messages."

Scroll to "Options" and press the Center key.

Open the "Setup" menu, then select "Message Setup" followed by "Text Msg Setup."

Highlight "Default Storage" and press the Center key.

Choose "SIM Card."

Tip

To reset this setting, open the "Text Msg Setup" menu again and set the default storage to the phone memory instead of the SIM card.
