The Lenovo X201 is a laptop with multiple built-in antennae for receiving different types of wireless signals. The computer supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections as do most other laptops on the market, but the X201 is also compatible with integrated mobile broadband through a 3G WWAN connection. With a SIM card and an integrated AT&T data usage plan, you can access the Internet on your computer almost anywhere you receive a 3G signal, significantly increasing the portability of the laptop.

  1. 1

Unlock the battery-release lever on the bottom of the computer by sliding the battery-release lever to the right, or the unlocked position as indicated by the padlock icon. While holding the release in the unlocked position, gently slide the battery out of its slot in the bottom of the computer.

  2. 2

Locate the SIM card slot in the left corner of the cradle where the battery rests. Insert the SIM card into the slot until you hear a slight click. If correctly inserted, about one-half of the SIM card will still extend outside the slot.

  3. 3

Slide the battery back into position using the slide rails on the bottom of the computer. Check the battery-release lever and make sure it has returned to the locked position.
