The Triumph Speed Triple was introduced in 1994 as a factory interpretation of the popular "Street-fighter" style. The stripped-down styling lends itself to aftermarket modification, and owners often fit performance components to further exploit the powerful three-cylinder engine. Brakes are a popular first upgrade on any motorcycle; the increased power and control offered by aftermarket brakes is often a dramatic improvement over standard factory units. Fitting aftermarket brakes to a Speed Triple is a relatively straightforward process, possible with just a few simple tools.

Cover the forks and the lower part of the front wheel with cloths or rags. Brake fluid destroys paint, so ensure that none is exposed before removing the fluid bung. Release the screw on the side of the caliper closest to the hose connection point. With the screw removed, a small rubber valve will be visible. Attach the hose from the bleeding kit to the valve and place the other end in the fluid container.
Pump the brake lever to squeeze out some fluid. When the flow decreases, remove the bleeding hose from the valve and replace the screw. Loosen the two bolts that connect the caliper to the lugs on the front fork. Work on one side at a time. Remove the lower bolt first, then the upper. Slide the caliper toward the outer edge of the disc until it pops free.
Slide the new caliper onto the disc and move it around the disc in a rotating motion until it meets the fork lugs. Replace the bolts and attach the new brake lines to the top of the caliper. Feed the lines up toward the handlebars, following the route of the old lines. Remove the old lines from all of the P-clips and brackets as you work up the fork leg, clipping the new lines into their place.
Loosen the grips holding the brake lines to the master cylinder. Have an assistant hold the waste fluid container just below the joint in case of any residual fluid. Disconnect the old lines from the master cylinder using the torque wrench and replace them with the new ones. Wrap the open ends of the old brake lines in a rag and secure it with electrical tape before feeding it back down the fork leg. Remove the old caliper and lines.
Attach the bleeding kit to the valve on the new caliper and take the lid off the master cylinder. Pour brake fluid slowly into the master cylinder and gently pump the brake lever until fluid starts to drain from the brakes into the waste container. Once the fluid passing down the bleeding kit tube is free from air bubbles, remove the bleeding kit and replace the covering screw. Keep pressure on the brake lever, top the fluid up to the marks on the master cylinder and replace the lid.

- Test your brakes slowly in a safe environment before riding at higher speeds.
- Ensure that any replacement disc is the same diameter as the old one. As of 2011, the Speed Triple uses a pair of 320-mm discs. Check the specifications of your model before purchasing a replacement.
