Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix processors are programmable logic devices for automating assembly lines and other electromechanical processes. ControlLogix devices run Logix code, while older PLC-5 logic controllers run PLC-5 format code. Rockwell Automation's RSLogix 5000 software can import and translate PLC-5 code to Logix code after the PLC-5 code has been exported from the older RSLogix 5 or RSLogix 500 applications. RSLogix 5000 converts the code exactly, but it may not run identically due to differences in the syntax and the logic controller devices themselves. Converting the old code lets developers reuse legacy code rather than having to write new logic for the ControlLogix from scratch.
