The ICOM IC-735 is a modified ham and base transceiver-broadcaster. This radio allows monitoring of various frequencies, including those used for aviation. If you have a helicopter headset microphone you wish to use with the ICOM IC-735, it is a simple matter of using the proper adaptor to plug into the microphone jack on the ICOM. Because helicopter headsets use different attachment plugs than its fixed wing counterparts, it is crucial you get the proper helicopter headset adaptor. These are available at pilot supply stores and online retailers.

    Plug the two helicopter headset-microphone jacks into the two plugs on the microphone headset adaptor.

    Plug the single microphone plug into the ICOM IC-735 microphone jack.

    Turn on the ICOM and adjust the volume on both the radio and helicopter microphone-headset. The volume control on the headset is on the right ear cover. Alternately, some adaptors have volume controls at the plugs.
